This assignment was given to us so that we could learn more about how good or bad fast food is for us. We took 3 different fast food restaurants & 3 similar meals from each restaurant to analyze. We checked McDonald’s, Burger King’s, & Wendy’s websites for information. The info we obtained was Calories, Fat Calories, & Non-fat Calories. After we obtained that info, we calculated the Percentage Fat of each item.
My McDonald’s meal consisted of Chicken Nuggets, Medium Fries, a Large Sweet Tea (because it’s cheaper…ha ha!), & a Creamy Ranch packet for dipping. The total number of Calories in this meal is 830, Fat Calories is 510, & Non-fat Calories is 320. That means that the Percentage Fat is 61%! Wow! That’s a lot!
I wasn’t as surprised as I thought I would be. I had a feeling that it was all pretty bad, but when I found out how bad, I was a bit shocked. I will definitely try & not eat at fast food places anymore! There will be times when my mom & I will not want to cook & fast food will be our only option. I don’t think it matters every once in a while.
